Dr. Sheehan received a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2004, spending her last semester in Northern Ireland focused on equine studies. She then went back to East Lansing to complete a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at MSU College of Veterinary Medicine, where she developed an interest in small animal and equine ophthalmology. While in veterinary school, Dr. Sheehan also completed coursework for a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of Minnesota. She will be completing the MPH degree by defending her research thesis this year. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Sheehan completed a small animal internship in medicine, surgery, emergency and ophthalmology at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Greensboro, NC. Dr. Sheehan joined the residency program at Eye Care for Animals in 2010.
