Dr. Esson obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and his CVOphthal from the Royal Veterinary College in London before spending three years in multi-specialty practice in England. After a rotating internship and a 2-year glaucoma fellowship with the department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida, he completed his residency with Eye Care for Animals in southern California, and is a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr Esson's interests include glaucoma and clinical research. He has authored scientific manuscripts and texts (including sections in “Veterinary Ophthalmology”, “Glaucoma” & “Veterinary Ophthalmic Surgery”), published his research in mainstream journals including Veterinary Ophthalmology, the Journal of Glaucoma, Science and Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science and has presented at ACVO, ARVO, AGS and AAO. Dr Esson is a regularly invited national speaker, a consultant ophthalmologist with the Comparative Ophthalmic Research Laboratories (CORL) of Wisconsin and a contributing member of the University of Florida's Center for Vision Research.
