Marcella Ashton, BVSc, DACVO,
obtained her Veterinary degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1992. After registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Ashton spent twelve months working in a rural equine, farm and small animal practice in Norfolk, England. She then spent a year of post graduate training in the Equine Unit at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, England. Dr. Ashton returned to general practice in Essex, England as a small animal veterinary clinician. After immigrating to the United States in 2000, she received her Foreign Veterinary Graduate Equivalency Certification and National and State veterinary licenses before joining a small animal practice in southwest Florida. In 2004 she completed an ophthalmology internship in Las Vegas, Nevada, followed by an ophthalmology clerkship at Eye Care for Animals in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Ashton completed a three-year veterinary ophthalmology residency program with Eye Care for Animals in Tucson, after which she became to become a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr Ashton continues to practice in Tucson, Arizona seeing small animal, equine and avian patients and performs charitable services treating various animal species for the local Tucson wildlife rehabilitation centers, Reid Park Zoo collection and the Desert Museum.

Paul Barrett, DVM, DACVO,
completed veterinary school at Colorado State University. He finished his residency in Veterinary Ophthalmology in Tucson, Arizona along with additional training at Stanford University. He has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists since 1995. Dr. Barrett's clinical interests focus on corneal disease and ulcer management. Dr. Barrett practices at the Eye Care for Animals' offices in Arizona; Salt Lake City, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; and San Diego, California

Tiffany Blocker, DVM, DACVO,
received her bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Florida State University and her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at University of Florida. After graduation, she completed an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City and spent four years working in private practice in New York City. Dr. Blocker completed a three-year residency program with Eye Care for Animals, after which she became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. She has a special interest in exotic animal species. Dr. Blocker practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Tustin, California.

Mark Bobofchak, DVM, DACVO,
received his Veterinary degree from University of Illinois. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bobofchak completed a three-year residency program with Eye Care for Animals, after which he became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr. Bobofchak practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Akron, Ohio.

Julius Brinkis, DVM, DACVO,
received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University. He completed his residency program at the Eye Care for Animals in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Brinkis earned his board certification in 1999. His special areas of interests include ocular immune-mediated diseases and cataract surgery. Dr. Brinkis practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Tustin, California.

Rebecca Burwell, DVM, DACVO,
is originally from Columbus, Ohio where she earned her undergraduate degree in Agriculture Science at Ohio State University and her Veterinary degree at Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Burwell completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship prior to practicing veterinary medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She then completed residency training with Eye Care for Animals in Southern California and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2003. Dr. Burwell practices at the Northern California Eye Care for Animals' offices in Santa Rosa and Corte Madera.

Sara Calvarese, DVM, DACVO,
attended the University of Virginia, where she earned her bachelor of arts degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology. She received her Veterinary degree from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Calvarese then completed a combined academic and private practice internship with Purdue University and St. Joe Center Veterinary Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She then completed a three-year residency program with Eye Care for Animals, after which she became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Her special interests include wildlife and exotic animal ophthalmology, as well as promoting public awareness of veterinary ophthalmology. Dr. Calvarese practices at the Southern California Eye Care for Animals' offices in Upland and Palm Desert.

B. Keith Collins, DVM, MS, DACVO,
received his veterinary degree from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. He then pursued an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. Dr. Collins completed his ophthalmology residency and earned his masters degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 1988. In the same year, he joined the faculty at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1994, Dr. Collins was promoted to Associate Professor and received the prestigious Norden Distinguished Teacher Award. In 1996, he moved to the Milwaukee area and opened his own practice as Animal Eye Specialists. In 2008 Dr. Collins merged his practice with Eye Care for Animals and continues to practice in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

Douglas Esson, MRCVS, DVM, DACVO,
obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and spent three years in multi-specialty practice in London, England prior to moving to the US. After a rotating internship and a 2-year glaucoma fellowship with the department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida, he completed his residency with Eye Care for Animals, and is a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr Esson's interests include glaucoma, clinical research and exotic animal ophthalmology. He has authored scientific manuscripts and texts, published his research in mainstream journals including Veterinary Ophthalmology, the Journal of Glaucoma, Science, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, presented material at ACVO, ARVO, AGS and AAO and is a consultant ophthalmologist with the Comparative Ophthalmic Research Laboratories (CORL). He is also a contributing member to the University of Florida's Center for Vision Research. Dr. Esson practices at the Southern California Eye Care for Animals' offices in Tustin, Upland and Palm Desert.


Christin Fahrer, DVM, MS, DACVO,
received her bachelor of science degree in Animal Science at Washington State University and her masters degree in Animal Science with a focus on equine nutrition at the University of Florida. She earned her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. After graduation, Dr. Fahrer completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Cornell University Hospital for Animals. She completed her residency program with Eye Care for Animals, after which she became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr. Fahrer practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Culver City, California.

Lisa Felchle, DVM, DACVO,
graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1996 and worked for 18 months in small animal general practices. She served as a resident of comparative ophthalmology for three years with Eye Care for Animals in Phoenix. Dr. Felchle became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2001. Dr. Felchle practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Gilbert, Arizona.

Matthew Fife, DVM, DACVO,
earned a bachelor of science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Utah. He then attended the University of Florida where he received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, followed by an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Virginia Tech University. Dr. Fife completed a three-year residency program with Eye Care for Animals in Tustin, California, after which he became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. He currently practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Paul A. Gerding, Jr., DVM, MS, DACVO,
received his undergraduate degree at Iowa State University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1984) and master of science degrees at the University of Illinois. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and has been a faculty member and Chief of Staff at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital since 1985 where he now maintains an adjunct clinical appointment. He has been an invited speaker at both the national and international level. His research and practice interests include ocular pharmacology and evaluation of therapeutics and devices to enhance surgical success. Dr. Gerding practices at the Eye Care for Animals' offices throughout the greater Chicagoland area.

Andrew Greller, VMD, DACVO,
graduated from the University of Michigan, where he earned a bachelor of science in Wildlife Biology and Natural Resources/Ecology. He received his Veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Next, he served as an intern in medicine and surgery at the Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C. and attended the Lancaster Course in Ophthalmology, a basic science course for M.D. ophthalmology residents. He then completed a second private practice internship in veterinary ophthalmology in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Greller completed a three-year residency program with Eye Care for Animals in Arizona, after which he became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. He currently practices at the Eye Care for Animals office Springfield, Virginia.

Allison Hoffman, DVM, DACVO,
completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California-Davis, she received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University. She also completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. Dr. Hoffman was awarded membership to the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society and has a special interest in lasers, research, cataract surgery, and retinal surgery. Dr. Hoffman has practiced at Eye Care for Animals since 2000, where she also completed her residency. She is board certified in veterinary ophthalmology and practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Pasadena, California.

Jennifer Hyman, MA, VMD, DACVO,
received her bachelor of arts from Towson University and attended graduate school at the College of William & Mary. After four years of research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine she entered the Veterinary School of the University of Pennsylvania and completed her Veterinary Medical Doctor degree. Prior to joining the residency program at Eye Care for Animals in 2002, Dr. Hyman worked as an emergency clinician at a veterinary referral and emergency center and completed an ophthalmology internship. Dr. Hyman is board certified in veterinary ophthalmology, she is a mentor in our residency training program, and is active in clinical research on eye diseases. Dr. Hyman practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Annapolis, Maryland.

Heather Kaese, DVM, MS, DACVIM, DACVO,
graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She completed an internship in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Canada. Following her internship, Dr. Kaese completed a residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine and a Masters degree in Comparative Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Her research and practice interests include equine uveitis and companion animal corneal disease. Dr. Kaese completed her ophthalmology residency with Eye Care for Animals in Chicago. She is board certified in veterinary ophthalmology and practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

Gavin Kennard, DVM, DACVO,
graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine with distinction. After graduation, Dr. Kennard completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He then completed a three-year residency program in Phoenix, Arizona with Eye Care for Animals, after which he became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr. Kennard is an avid cyclist and currently races on an elite Masters cycling team, sponsored by ECFA, which participates in races throughout the Southwest. He practices at the New Mexico offices in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Santa Teresa and services all of New Mexico, northwestern Texas and southern Colorado.

Amy M. Knollinger, DVM, DACVO,
is a 3rd generation Florida native who earned her bachelor of science degree from Florida Southern College. She then attended North Carolina State University for veterinary school and graduated with honors. Returning to her home state, she then performed a small animal rotating internship in Winter Park, Florida. After 2 years in private practice and affiliation with the University of Georgia’s ophthalmology service, Dr. Knollinger completed a three-year residency program with Eye Care for Animals, after which she became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. She practices at the Eye Care for Animals' Utah offices in Salt Lake City and Sunset.

Gwendolyn Lynch, DVM, DACVO,
is a Florida native who earned her bachelor of science degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She returned to her home state and graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. A challenging internship in small animal medicine followed at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She then completed residency training with Eye Care for Animals in Southern California and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr. Lynch has special interests in corneal surgery, eyelid reconstruction, horses, and exotic animals. Dr. Lynch happily returned to the East Coast recently where she practices alongside other veterinary specialists at the Eye Care for Animals located within The LifeCentre in Leesburg, Virginia. She is also available to see equine cases at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg.

Nicole MacLaren, DVM, DACVO,
was born in Vancouver, Canada and currently resides in Park City, Utah. Dr. MacLaren received her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Illinois and finalized her formal studies in an ophthalmology residency at Purdue University. Her areas of interest include cataract surgery and corneal disease. Dr. MacLaren is board certified in veterinary ophthalmology and practices at the Eye Care for Animals' Utah offices in Salt Lake City and Sunset.

Reuben Merideth, DVM, DACVO,
has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists since 1981. A graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr Merideth has practiced veterinary ophthalmology for more than 25 years. He has written more than 30 scientific articles along with five chapters for veterinary textbooks. His clinical interests include glaucoma and cataracts. Dr Merideth practices at Eye Care for Animals' offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Tucson, Arizona; Overland Park, Kansas; San Diego, California; and Culver City, California.

Dr. Nicholas Millichamp, BVetMed, PhD, DVD, DECVO, MRCVS, DACVO,
graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1978. After working in small animal practice he spent three years at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, and at the Institute of Ophthalmology, University of London, pursuing doctoral research on inherited retinal degeneration and retinal surgery in dogs. He completed residency training in comparative ophthalmology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 1985. He was awarded a Diploma of Veterinary Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1986. Dr. Millichamp became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2004 and was elected to the Board of Regents of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2008. Dr. Millichamp was staff ophthalmologist at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, and faculty member in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Studies at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A&M University from 1986 until 2009. His clinical and research interests have focused on the pharmacology of ocular inflammation, ocular surgery (particularly cataract surgery in horses), and ocular disease in exotic species and, more recently, ophthalmic telemedicine and imaging. Dr. Millichamp lectures internationally, has published many papers in scientific journals and contributed to several textbooks of veterinary ophthalmology. He was a consultant for Central Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology before establishing offices with Eye Care for Animals in Austin, Texas. and Houston, Texas. in 2009.

Randall Scagliotti, DVM, MS, DACVO,
is a 1973 University California-Davis graduate who interned at the Boston's Angell Memorial Animal Hospital. He received his masters degree in Comparative Pathology from the University of California-Davis, and remained on the clinical faculty until he became board certified in veterinary ophthalmology in 1977. Dr. Scagliotti served as president of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists from 1992-93 and was editor of the first edition of the ACVO's, Ocular Disorders Proven or Suspected to be Hereditary in Dogs. He has authored eight ophthalmology chapters as well as numerous papers and lectures internationally. For 31years, Dr. Scagliotti served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of California-Davis College of Veterinary Medicine where he held the title of Associate Clinical Professor. In 2008, he was awarded the University of California-Davis Veterinary Medical Schools - Highest Honor The Alumni Achievement Award. His special interests are diseases of the orbit, neuro-otology and neuro-ophthalmology, of which he is considered one of the world's authorities. Dr. Scagliotti practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Tustin, California.

Ronald Sigler, DVM, DACVO,
started the first veterinary eye clinic in the state of Arizona in 1980. He was educated at Purdue University, Colorado State University, University of Minnesota, and Stanford University. He has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists since 1977. Dr. Sigler has given many educational lectures to national and local doctors on veterinary ophthalmology and he has also served as past president of the Central Arizona Veterinary Medical Association. His clinical interest include intraocular surgery and corneal disease. Dr. Sigler practices at the Eye Care for Animals office in Phoenix, Arizona.

Steve Sisler, DVM, DACVO,
graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Veterinary School. He spent five years as an emergency veterinarian in Fort Wayne, Indiana at a multi-referral hospital. Dr. Sisler joined the residency program at Eye Care for Animals in 2002 and became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2004. Dr. Sisler practices at the Eye Care for Animals' offices throughout the greater Chicagoland area.

Jennifer Urbanz, DVM, DACVO,
attended Auburn University where she received a degree in both Zoology and Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a fellowship at the Scott-Ritchey Research Center in veterinary medical studies. Dr. Urbanz completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at University of Minnesota. Dr. Urbanz joined the residency program at Eye Care for Animals in 1999 and became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2002. She practices at the Eye Care for Animals' Arizona offices in Phoenix and Scottsdale.
